Port Angeles, Wash.
– Port Angeles High School (PAHS) Youth United Letter in Service applications and forms to verify volunteer work are due by Monday, April 3, 2017 in order to verify eligibility for 2016-17 varsity letter awards. Completed paperwork can be returned to Ethan Arlt and Chris Edwards, PAHS AmeriCorps members, in Lab Room 1205 or in the PAHS Library after school.
Students who volunteer 145 or more hours of service in a year - between the months of April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017 - can earn their PAHS school varsity letter in community service. Fifty of the hours must be non-school related volunteering.
The United Way has partnered with the Port Angeles School District to orchestrate the program during the past four school years.
The Youth United program is self-governed by individual students and rewards students who reach the volunteer hour requirements for their contributions to our school and community.
As students volunteer, they maintain a record of all of their work, complete with supervisor contact information.
